Vivace Shepherdian choral concert
The senior choir of Good Shepherd Convent consisting of 46 singers
will present a Choral Concert on October 4 and 5 at 6.30 pm at the
school hall. Titled "Vivace" or "lively music", the concert will
showcase some of the great classical compositions besides the choicest
theme songs from famous movies and pop and folk songs in English,
Sinhala, Tamil, Latin, Italian, German and Spanish.
These will includes Wagner's "Bridal Chorus", Schubert's "Ave Maria",
Adam's "Holy City" and Dixit Dominus (Gregorian Chant) followed by the
gorgeous "Dixit Dominus" popularised by the "Nun's Chorus" from the
"Sound of Music". "Salve Regina" too is slotted in this section.
The secular/contemporary section includes selections from the movies;
"Song from Exodus", "Sun-rise to Sun-set" from "Fiddler on the Roof".
In addition, "Falling in Love", "I believe", "Unchained Melody" and
"Tears in Heaven" will add flavour spiced with excellent harmony and
stylish execution.
The oriental segment of the show will show case Danno Budunge,
Ragupthi Ragawa, Kimadanawe and a surprise Tamil movie hit.
The young past pupils of Good Shepherd Convent will vocalise songs
including "In the Still of the Night" and "Any dream will do" in 4 part
harmony.
The combined choirs will perform a new version of the "Peace Song"
popularised in the country by the late Maestro Lylie Godridge.
"Vivace", a choral production of the Kotahena Shepherdians comes
after a couple of decades. |
