SLASU AGM in November

First signs of Interim Committees coming to an end is the holding of
the annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU)
on the second week in November. The Sports Ministry has taken immediate
steps to dissolve the present interim committee of SLASU by a gazette
notification.
With the action taken by the Sports Ministry all documents and
related files held since 2005 under DIG Sirisena President, Interim
Committee of SLASU will be taken by the Sports Development Department of
the Ministry of Sports.
According to D. Dahanayake, Director General of the Sports
Development Department, the Interim Committee of Sri Lanka Aquatic
Sports Union is dissolved on the instruction by the Sports Minister
Gamini Lokuge and the annual general meeting will be held in the second
week in November.
According to the Sports Law, nominations will be called in October,
one month ahead of the AGM.
The former Sports Minister dissolved the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports
Union with Vijitha Fernando being the President and appointed an Interim
Committee with DIG Sirisena Herath as President and Samantha
Wickremasinghe former Thomian and Sri Lanka Waterpolo captain as
secretary.
For nearly three years the SLASU interim committee organised the
aquatic sports events. In 1995 SLASU interim committee was appointed
with late Henry Perera as the President and Julian Bolling, Secretary. |
