The S.W.R.D., Sirimavo and Anura Bandaranaike commemoration will be
held on Friday Morning September 26 at Horaoglla Bandaranaika Samadi,
Nittambuwa.
Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka will be the chief guest. The

Stage Play
"Dummalawarama" directed by Ranjith de Alwis will be staged at the
Sapugaskanda Maha Vidyalaya in aid of Biyagama Pradeshiya Sabha Welfaer
Society on September 28, Sunday at 3.30 and 6.30 p.m.
Gamini Hettiarachchi, Sanath Wimalasiri, Nilanthi Dias, Manohari
Wimalatunga, Roshana Ondanchi Rajitha Chamikara (Pinpong), Upul
Weerasinghe (Upul mana) Anura Srinath, Anura Mapitigama, Tharaka Adikari,
Surenika Krishnamali, Upali Keerthisena and Bhagya de Alwis will be
among the actors and actresses. Music is directed by Vishradha Edward
Jayakody.
Monthly lecture series
The monthly lecture of the Royal Asiatic Society of Sri Lanka will be
held at 5.00 p.m. on Monday September 29 at the Gamini Dissanayake
Auditorium of the Mahaweli Center, No. 96, Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha,
Colombo 07. The title of the lecture is "Dandris de Silva Gunaratna:
Recalling his Times and Some Landmarks in his career" presented by Dr.
K. Locana Gunaratna. The lecture is open to the public.
Krishnamurti talk
A recorded public talk on "The energy in emptiness" delivered by J.
Krishnamurti will be replayed at Anula Nursery School Hall, 310 High
level Road, Colombo 6 at 9.45 a.m on Sunday, September 28. The event is
organised by the Krishnamurti Centre, Sri Lanka Inc.
Book launch
The Bandaraniake Centre for International Studies (BCIS) will launch
a Book titled' Domestic Politics and Diplomacy: A Study of Linkage
Politics in Indo-Sri Lanka relations, by late Prof. Shelton Kodikara,
considered the doyen of International Studies in Sri Lanka on September
25 at 5.30 p.m. Prof. Tissa Vitharana - Minister of Science and
Technology will be the Chief Guest.

Arms cache in Wattala

The Special Task Force recovered arms and explosives targeting a VIP,
hidden near an international school in Hekitta, Wattala last morning,
police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said.
Following a tip off, the STF intelligence unearthed yesterday the
unattended parcel and recovered high explosives and arms hidden at an
abandoned land near the international school. “The LTTE, might have been
targeting a VIP.
Many children of the Security Forces personnel also attend this
International school,” SSP Gunasekera told the Daily News. The arms and
explosives inside a plastic bag were hidden in a thicket of an abandoned
land.
The STF recovered 565 grammes of C-4 explosives, a T56 assault rifle,
two magazines, 124 bullets, code seats and currency. “Part of the
currency were torn indicating that the arms and explosives had not been
handed over to the accomplice,” SSP Gunasekera said.
Meanwhile, a suspected LTTE cadre was arrested on Tuesday evening by
the Kandy Terrorist Investigation Division in Lindula, Hatton. The TID
are investigating.
Tiger trailing top security officials seized
Indika POLKOTUWA
An LTTE suspect who is alleged to have been trailing VIPs and
Security Forces personnel for assassination was taken into custody at
Balagalle, Kandy by Kandy police.
The suspect had been following the movements of top security
personnel in Kandy and other areas in Kandy, sources said.
The suspect, whose wife is living in Kilinochchi, had received
special LTTE training, sources said.
Interview to recruit Principals for National Schools
Arrangements have been made to hold interviews for recruitment of
Principals for 52 National Schools at the Ministry of Education on
September 25, 26 and 29 and on October 2 and 3, 2008.
It is hereby notified by the Secretary of the Ministry of Education
