No rice imports

Colombo: Under the accelerated implementation of the national drive to motivate domestic food production under the theme "Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu", Sri Lanka will not import rice for the rest of the year since over 100,000 Mt tons of excess paddy harvest has been harvested from every part of the country, Additional Secretory to the Ministry of Agriculture S.M.A. Gunathilaka said.

According to the previous practice, rice had to be imported to the country during the year end especially in November and December in time for the festive season. To page 10
