Sino-Lanka MoU to tighten trade ties
Promoted and initiated by the Commercial Section of the Sri Lanka
Embassy in Beijing, P.R. of China, two MoUs were signed between Sri
Lanka China Business Cooperation Council (SLCBCC) and the China Councils
for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Jinan and Guangxi Sub
Councils, to strengthen economic, technological, trade and investment
relations.
The purpose of these agreements are to establish closer cooperation
for mutual benefit and contribute both efforts in strengthening
economic, technological, cultural and human relations between the two
Institutions, especially in promoting the development of the new forms
of economic cooperation. The SLCBCC and the two CCPIT sub Councils have
agreed to assist each other in finding potential partners in trade,
economic, Industrial and scientific technical cooperation.
The agreements facilitate the Councils to organise and participate in
Exhibitions, Meetings and conferences, exchange of delegations, trade
missions both import and export, to bring business establishments in
their regions in contact with each other.
Jinan, the capital city of Shangdon province has a pool of
high-quality labour resources. There are 18 universities and colleges in
the city where more than 200,000 students are studying. Among the 200+
research institutes in the city, 10 are national laboratories.
The focus on the technology intensive industries has transformed
Jinan from a city, supported by heavy industry and textiles to a city of
more complex industrial structures. IT, transportation tools, home
appliances, bio-engineered products, etc: have become the new pillars of
industry. Jinan's IT related economic output ranked No. 4 in China in
2006. CCPIT Jinan Sub-Council will be holding the 2008 China (Jinan)
International Truck & Accessory Exhibition from Oct 17 to 19, 2008, at
the Jinan International Exhibition Centre.
Guangxi is located in the southern part of country, bordered by
Yunnan to the west, Guizhou to the north, Hunan to the northeast and
Guangdong to the southeast. It is also bounded by Vietnam in the
southwest and the Gulf of Tonkin in the south. |
