Lanka hosts Apparel South Asia confab
Sri Lanka will host the first Apparel South Asia (ASA) conference in
November. The ASA conference that will be held on November 5 and 6 at
the BMICH, will bring together international buyers and apparel
manufacturers in the South Asian region.
“The conference theme ‘Beyond 2010; Challenges and Opportunities’
provides the platform to discuss the rapidly changing nature of the
apparel trade and how SAARC manufacturers and exporters should respond,
consolidate and strengthen their share of the world market,” Conference
Chair, Prof. Lakdas D Fernando, said.
The organisers of ASA, Lanka Exhibitions and Conference Services (LECS),
say ASA will provide a platform for apparel manufactures in the South
Asian region to hear about industry trends from industry leaders.
“The overall objective of the conference is to support the
manufacturers and exporters of apparel in the South Asian region to keep
abreast of emerging trends and opportunities, in order to prosper as
leading suppliers to the World. The conference will provide a forum for
high profile leaders in the apparel sector to exchange ideas with the
apparel manufacturing and exporting community of South Asia,” General
Manager of LECS, Aasim Muktar said.
The list of speakers already includes leading international brands
like Nike and Marks and Spencer, and also industry leaders from the
region. |
