Sri Lanka Lions team for WFL Under 17 Asia Cup

Applications are being called for the selection of the Sri Lanka
Lions team from suitable players for the World Future League Twenty 20 (WFL)
Under 17 Asia Cup to be held at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in
Hyderabad, India from January 19 to 24, 2009.
Players in the age group of 14 to 17 (Should have reached the maximum
age limit of 14 years as at September 1st 2008 and should be below the
maximum age limit of 17 years as at 31st January 2009).
Players to represent the Sri Lankan Lions team will be picked
strictly on merit with the blessings of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket
Association.
Applications with cricketing achievements along with a certified copy
of the birth certificate are called from individuals in the above age
group representing their schools (including International Schools),
recognised certified private academies.
All applications should be certified by parent/guardian, school
principal or head of a recognised academy. The final list of the
applicants out of the many thousands, will be pruned down to 44 and the
final 15 players for the tournament will be selected after a series of
matches played during the weekend.
Former Test captain Hashan Tillekeratne will be the Sri Lankan
representative at the tournament. Abdul Razzack will represent Pakistan
while Stuart Binny son of former Indian player Roger Binny will
represent India. New Zealander Chris Cairns is the Brand Ambassador for
the event.
