Mercantile semi league cage tourney from Oct. 2

Mercantile Services Semi League Basketball Championship for the year 2008 will get off to start on October 2 at Otters Aquatic Club Courts. The tournament will come to close at the same venue on December 5 with the finals of Division 'A' Men and Women.

The Men's category will be played in five Divisions while the women play in two divisions A and B. Men's Division A consists of five teams, while the Division B is played between six teams. Division D with eight teams play in two groups while the Division C is competed by five teams. The Division E is the play in two groups for their seven teams.

The Women's Division A has only three in participation while the B has only three teams.

The participating teams:

Men's Division A - Sampath Bank, Nations Trust Bank, Dialog Telekom and DFCC Group.

Division B - Group A - Commercial Bank, David Peiris Motor Co, Ranawana & Co.

Group B - Hatton National Bank, Akbar Bros., Union Assurance Ltd.

Division C - Diolog Telekom, Avant Garden SS, HSBC, David Peiris Motor Co. B, SriLankan Airlines,

Division D - Group A - Eagle Insurance Co, Airport & Aviation, Nations Trust Bank B, DFCC Group B,

Group B - Mobitel, Commercial Bank, SriLankan Airlines B, Ceylinco Group.

Division E - Group A - Global Payments, Softlogic Group, Standard Chartered, Evnest & Young.

Group B - Singer Sri Lanka, Expo Lanka Group, Worldwide Group.
