Lankan spikers win and lose

The Sri Lankan Junior Women spikers participating Asian Junior Championship in Chinese Taipei overcame India three sets to two in a tense battle in a group A game.

Sri Lanka won the first at 25-23 but lost the following 23-25. Indians could not fight the third and went down 25-18 giving Lankans a 2-1 lead.

Indian girls came strangely in the next set 22-25 to level the game and also to stretch the game to its maximum of five sets. However Lankan Junior spikers making another good effort won the final set at 15-12 to win the match.

For Sri Lanka’s Wasana Madumalee and Thiranga Maduwathi played vital roles to bring victory for their team.

In another game played on Friday Sri Lanka lost Korea in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-09). They will confront New Zealand in the final group match today.
