President to hold bi-lateral talks

New York: President Mahinda Rajapaksa was expected to hold several
bi-lateral meetings with Heads of State, in the sidelines of the 63rd UN
General Assembly sessions in New York yesterday, the President's media
sources said.
He was to meet the Prime Minister of Iceland, Geir H. Haorde at 9.00
pm local time, the first in a series of bi-lateral meetings, followed by
the Environment and International Affairs Minister of Norway, Eric
Solheim.
President Rajapaksa was also expected to attend the special
'Welcoming Ceremony' hosted by US President George Bush and First Lady
Laura Bush at the Astoria Hotel last night, for the Heads of State
participating at the 63rd UNGA Summit, Sources further said.
