Waidya IAAF Technical Delegate
P.H.D. Waidyatilaka has been bestowed with yet another singal honour
by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
Immediately after the Beijing Olympics the IAAF has appointed
Waidyatilaka as the Technical Delegate for the Shanghai Golden Grand
Prix to be held over the week-end.
P.H.D. Waidyatilaka |
Technical Delegate is the highest position in an International
Athletic Championship and is generally reserved for the IAAF council
members.
For the IAAF to have appointed Waidyatilaka who is not a council
member for the post is a clear indication of the confidence and esteem
Waidyatilaka is held by the IAAF.
His mandate at the Golden Grand Prix would be the total
responsibility for all technical aspects of the championship supervision
of the anti doping control and evaluation of the quality aspects of the
meeting.
In the star studded Shanghai Golden Grand Prix at least 10 Gold
Medallists and similar number of silver & bronze medallists at the
Beijing Olympics are billed to participate.
Already Yelena Isinbeyava has indicated that she is determined to
better her own world record in the pole vault created just a month ago
in Beijing.
Dayron Robles (Cuba) too will have a go at his own world record in
the 110m hurdles which he missed at the Olympics.
Liu Xiang (China) will not be seen in action once again as he is
still nursing his injury which prevented him from defending his 110m
hurdles Olympic. |
