Samurdhi Banking Associations to be linked

The Samurdhi Banking Association plans to link its rural banking associations from tomorrow.

Nation Building Minister Jagath Pushphakumara said these banking associations would be interlinked within a short period. The Asian Development Bank has come forward to provide funds to develop this interlink system.

Minister Pushphakumara said around 106 banking associations in three districts would be linked and be online during this year.

The Samurdhi Authority manages 1,042 Samurdhi Banking Associations.

The Minister said the Samurdhi Banking Associations could minimise waste. He added that these associations earned a handsome profit during last year.
