US Coast Guard lifts injured Lankan from vessel

An injured Sri Lankan man was plucked from a ship 225 miles southeast of Kodiak and safely medevacked to the town for treatment, the US Coast Guard said on Monday.

The Coast Guard received a request on Saturday morning to lift the unidentified man from the Santiago, a 572-foot Marshall Islands-flagged vessel. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-130 aircraft were deployed from Kodiak.
