Book Launch by Prof. W.M. Karunadasa
The most recent publication of Dr. W.M. Karunadasa, Prof. of
International Relations University of Colombo will be launched at the
BMICH Committee Room A on September 12 at 5 p.m. This is the most recent
addition entitled Sri Lankawe Videsha Prathipaththiya - Paryeshanathmaka
Adyanayak (Sri Lanka's Foreign Policy - A Research Study) Foreign
Minister Rohitha Bogollagama will be the Chief Guest and will be held
concurrently with the felicitation ceremony organised by the former
students, colleagues and friends of Prof. Karunadasa, in appreciation of
his 40 years service to the University of Colombo and the University
system.
His Holiness visits Sri Lanka
Seyyidina Sheik Muhammed Adnan Kabbani will visit Sri Lanka on
September 13.
He will stay at the Naqshabandi Makaam at 24, 28th Lane, off Flower
Road, Colombo 7. All are welcome to meet him and get his blessing at the
Makaam (Centre) for Thahajjud (4.30 am), Fajr, Luhar (12 noon), Asr,
Isha and Tharavih ( 8.15 pm) prayers.
'Praise and Worship' service
The Service of 'Praise and Worship' will be held on September 14 at
10.30 am at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour, Bauddhaloka
Mawatha (adjoining BMICH), Colombo 7.
This service is open to all.
The Speaker and Minister at this service, conducted under the
umbrella of the Ministry of 'Peace for All', will be Dr. Vijaya Corea.
Ceremony to fete Madanayake
A ceremony to mark dramatist, playwriter and novelist Bhatiya
Madanayake's 50 years in this field of arts will be held at the Lumbini
Theatre tomorrow at 4.30 p.m.
Madanayake's latest novel Pinna Mala Wage will also be launched on
this day.
Madanayake a past pupil of Carey College, Colombo entered the drama
field in Peter Alkon's, Punchi Minissu in 1978.
He received an award for the best short drama in 1983 and has acted
in more than eight films and 20 tele dramas. Madanayake's drama
Kalabegeniya will also be staged at the Lumbini Theatre to day at 6.00
p.m.
Anniversary celebrations
A ceremony to mark the second anniversary of the Australian Business
Education Institute will be held on September 13 at 6.30 p.m. at the
Earl's Regency Hotel, Kandy. Central Province Governor Tikiri
Kobbekaduwa will be the chief guest.
Musical presentation
Miyurukala Musical presentation organised by the students of Vadya
Visharada, Rukshan Prasad Manamperi, of Elapitiwala, Ragama will be held
on September 13 at 5.30 p.m. at the Basilika Vidyalaya auditorium,
Ragama. Dancer, Ishani Vettasinghe will add glamour to the occasion.
Music direction is by Rukshan Prasad Manamperi.
Blood donation campaign
Eidirisinghe Trust Investments Ltd (ETI) and Janasarana Foundation
will conduct a blood donation campaign for the fifth consecutive year on
September 13 between 8 am to 4 pm at Thilakarathnaramaya, Ward Place,
Colombo 7.
Ahadiyya School reopens on Oct 5
The Colombo Ahadiyya School (Girl's Section) will reopen on October
5, Principal F. Fazleen Lami said.
The Ahadiyya is closed due to exam paper making. |
