Electricity for more villages in Moneragala and Trincomalee

Several villages in Monaragala and Trincomalee districts will be
electrified under the "Electricity for all project" within the next two
years, Power and Energy Ministry sources said.
According to the sources more than Rs. 4,000 million will be spent on
these electricity projects.
Another rural electricity project initiated in Trincomalee district
earlier completed at a cost of Rs. 260 million will be commissioned
shortly.
Meanwhile, the Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura district electricity
projects completed at a cost of Rs. 900 million will also be handed over
to the beneficiaries shortly.
The sources expressed confidence that on the completion of initiated
projects a revolution could be achieved in the rural industry of these
areas.
The Ministry sources said that on the completion of these projects
nearly 90 per cent of the rural electricity demand of the public would
be completed.
In addition to the rural electricity projects China and Iran have
allocated loans to Sri Lanka for electricity projects.
