Special leave for Muslim employees

COLOMBO: Labour and Manpower Minister Athaudha Senaviratne directed private sector employers to grant special leave for Muslim employees employed in private sector institutions during the Ramazan month until October 2.

Minister Senaviratne also asked employers to grant permission for employees to get involved in religious activities during the day.

The Minister has asked private sector employers to grant permission from 3.30 am to 6.00 am, 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm, 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm and 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm daily until the Ramazan month concludes.He also requested employers to sanction special leave to carry out prayers and conduct religious activities and grant festival advance salary, advance on time.
