Wanni Commanders brief Army Chief on latest achievements

Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, General Officers Commanding (GOC) and Brigade Commanders in Wanni based Divisions and Brigades met Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka at the Wanni Security Forces Headquarters yesterday morning and apprised him of the latest achievements of the troops and other security concerns in the region, particularly in the aftermath of the fall of LTTE strongholds, Mallavi and Palamoddai.

Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, during the meeting at Vavuniya received an overall first hand account of the ground realities from Major General Jayasuriya at the of the briefing.

Respective General Officers Commanding from 56, 57 and 59 Divisions, Task Force I, Task Force II and Brigade Commanders later on contributed to the discussions and elaborated the visiting Commander on related security developments in their Divisions and Brigades.

The Army Commander update, reminded his officers of the challenges that lay ahead in the days to come, as valiant soldiers from many fronts in the Wanni are making great strides into LTTE-held territories in the centre of Mullaittivu and Kilinochchi districts with courage and determination. He also shared his experiences with military chiefs and instructed them, accordingly.

The Army Commander expressing his contentment over military gains in the past few weeks sternly reminded his officers of minimising casualties among the troops, since the enemy would do the worst to prevent troops from entering Tiger strongholds.
