Dull day

The broad market saw another down day with the ASPI losing eight points to close at 2,400, while the MPI, which tracks the most liquid stocks dropped 15 (-0.1%) points to close at 2,769.

Market turnover was Rs 191 million with Sri Lanka Telecom accounting for Rs 40 million of turnover. Investor interest was also seen in Bogala Graphite (Rs 11.1 million) and NTB Warrants Expiring in 2010 (Rs 10.2 million).

Lion Brewery (LION), part of the Carson's Cumberbatch Group, released its first quarter to June results to show a revenue growth of 28% to Rs 1.3 billion, but high finance costs eroded profitability resulting in the company posting a Rs 4.8 million loss, vs. a profit of Rs 28 million in the comparable quarter.
