Two suspects further remanded
Possessing forged Indian notes:

The two Pakistani nationals in remanded over the possessing of forged
Indian currency notes were remanded by Colombo Fort Magistrate and
Additional District Judge Namal Bandara Balalle till September 10.
The Fort Police told Court that they will obtain Indian Police’s
assistance to ascertain whether the Indian notes are genuine or not.
Ruwan Rohan Srilal of Piliyanda who had been remanded in connection
with the same offence was released on bail by the Additional Magistrate
in a sum of Rs. 25,000 cash and a bond of Rs. 400,000 with a surety.
Earlier, the three suspects produced by the Fort Police for
possessing forged Indian notes, and remanded pending completion of the
investigations.
The Fort Police in a report told Court that a special police team is
investigating to ascertain whether any other persons are involved in the
forged Indian currency notes racket.
The Fort Police had recovered Indian forged currency to the value of
over Rs. 8.3 million.
