More UNPers, JVPers joining SLFP daily - Healthcare Minister
Nadira Gunatilleke
The Government will launch a special programme to felicitate members
of the UNP and the JVP who join the SLFP because they are disappointed
with the leaderships of those parties. The number of UNP and JVP members
joining the SLFP is increasing day by day, Healthcare and Nutrition
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said.
Minister De Silva was addressing the gathering after ceremonially
opening the Rs. 600 million new bus stand at Bibile. He said that the
felicitation ceremonies will commence from Badulla next month. The SLFP
is going to be the strongest political party in Sri Lanka by 2009
because more and more UNPers and JVPers are joining the SLFP in their
droves as they are fed up with their party leaderships.
Minister De Silva said that the Government announced three forecasts
prior to the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Election
and all those forecasts are now becoming realities. The first one is the
further deterioration of the UNP.
Now the leadership of the UNP is under pressure from its own MPs who
are demanding that its leader step down from the leadership. The JVP
leadership is also facing many troubles. The people of Sri Lanka has
showed that the JVP will not be able to win even a single seat at future
elections because of their political strategy based on destruction of
institutes and systems.
Minister De Silva said that the people are very pleased with the
performance of the Government. More and more people from the UNP and the
JVP make requests from Cabinet Ministers, Provincial Councilors and
other politicians on obtaining the membership of the SLFP.
Nation Building Minister Jagath Pushpakumara and Uva Province Chief
Minister Vijith Vijayamuni also spoke.
