Blue Mount commend Union Assurance
Blue Mount tea factory located in Thanthriwela, Pinnawela Balangoda
was burnt out in its entirety this year - a fire suspected to have
originated through the dryer in the factory.
The owner of the factory, H.M. Chaminda Hirikumbura had insured the
factory with Union Assurance since 2001, for a sum of Rs.34.5 million.
Hirikumbura was a dejected man. But having paid his premium regularly
since the year 2001, barely seven years later, Hirikumbura, through the
insurance cover he received a massive Rs.33,950,000.00 for the fire
razing his factory and all machinery to the ground.
“I renewed my insurance cover with Union Assurance in 2007, and I am
pleased that I have selected Union Assurance as my preferred insurer
compensated for the loss incurred on account of the fire at the factory.
As a result I have been able to restart my business by investing on
another factory almost immediately with the money I received through my
insurance cover. Naturally, I have insured the new factory too with
Union Assurance.
Their service was excellent and prompt and I wouldn’t hesitate to
recommend them,” Hirikumbura declared. He went on to say that he intends
restoring the burnt factory in the near future.
Union Assurance, and their Ratnapura regional staff on their part,
carried out an assessment on the fire.
