Malaysian tourism promotion drive

Malaysian High Commission and Tourism Malaysia announced its
marketing initiatives for Sri Lanka. To target the leisure traffic from
Sri Lanka, a product presentation and interactive business session
(buyer seller meet) with the travel trade will be held on September 3 at
Taj Samurdra, Colombo.
Spearheading the sales mission Director, Tourism Malaysia, South Asia
S. Manoharan is leading a 14 member trade delegation from Malaysia
comprising of travel agents, tour operators and members of hospitality
industry.
This initiative will provide an opportunity for members of Malaysian
and Sri Lankan trade fraternity to explore mutual business prospects.
Manoharan said, “Sri Lanka is an emerging market and has registered a
tourist arrival of 31,733 people in 2007, showing a growth of 58% over
the year 2006. We are keen to position Malaysia as a key tourist getaway
in South East Asia offering diverse tourism products with a thrust
towards first world ambience, urbane life, shopping, golf, entertainment
and theme parks.”
