Dissanayake wins a treble at Nuwara Eliya

The Browns Cup - horse race meet at Nuwara Eliya Race Course organised by the Sri Lanka Turf Club and sponsored by Brown and Company PLC was held at Nuwara Eliya on a grand scale witnessed by a large gathering of racing fans.

Jockey J. Nanda Kumar was the only jockey to win a double on this day riding 'Eulexite' and 'Keep Looking'.

The other jockeys to win a race each are R. Balachandran on 'Nakita', A. Siva Kumar on 'Sulanga', 'High and Mighty' by K. Ganesh, S. Selvaratnam rode 'Silver Cat', while M. Christopher won on 'Lightning'.

It was a good day for the owner I. Dissanayake who saw three of his horses 'Eulexite', 'Lady Nakita' and 'Keep Looking' crossed the line first to give him a treble for the August race season.

The days racing gave the opportunity for the fans to witness full race on a giant screen which was seen on the race course for the first time on. Apart from the horse racing a carnival atmosphere prevailed with live music and competitions such as choosing the Most Photogenic Lady the Best Dressed Lady selected from the racing community that were present to witness the day's proceedings.

The winners:

Browns Cup: 1. 'Sulanga' (A. Siva Kumar), 2. 'Concur', 3. 'If Looks Could Kill'.

Havells Cup: 1. 'Lady Nakita' (R. Balachandran), 2. 'Star Class', 3. 'African Beat'.

The Sharp Cup: 1. 'Eulexite' (J. Nanda Kumar), 2. 'Fire Cracker', 3. 'Desert Fox'.

Browns Tours Cup: 1. 'High and Mighty' (K. Ganesh), 2. 'Lady Regina', 3. 'Nuclear Power'.

Tafe Cup: 1. 'Silver Cat' (S. Selvaratnam), 2. 'Kandyan Splendour', 3. 'Be Busy'.

Exide Cup: 1. 'Lightning' (M. Christopher), 2. 'Prince of South', 3. 'Shining Moon'.

Olympus Cup: 1. 'Keep Looking' (J. Nanda Kumar), 2. 'Rebirth', 3. 'Smart Chieftain'.
