LTTE area leader killed

The Air Force in a combined operation ambushed an LTTE movement and killed two LTTE cadres including an area leader in Velankulam, Trincomalee on Wednesday night.

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said Air Force jointly with the Army ambushed an LTTE movement in Velankulam, North of Trincomalee attempting to attack the Air Force -Army combined check point at around 9.15 p.m.

The North Trincomalee LTTE area leader Vineethan was among the dead. The bodies were identified as those of Vineethan and Kanthan," Brigadier Nanayakkara said.
