Students assault journalists

Two journalists attached to the print media and electronic media were assaulted by Colombo Medical Faculty students yesterday.

Sources said the journalists were assaulted while trying to take a photograph of a medical student being interviewed by a journalist.

A journalist of a television channel who arrived to televise the incident was also assaulted by the students.

The Medical Students Union said the journalists were trying to enter the hostel premises without permission which led to an argument with the hostel warden.

Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane instructed the authorities to take stern action against the suspects.
