Trawler with six fishermen missing in sea

TRINCOMALEE: A fishing trawler carrying six fishermen which left the Trincomalee fisheries harbour on July 29 has not returned to the shores, families of the missing fishermen mourn.

The light blue trawler with ‘Joy Putha’ printed on its left with Sampath Nimal Roy Appu, Sunil Mervyn Fernando, Augustin Perera, Dilantha Pieris, Srimal Chaturanga and Madhushanka Rodrigo, residents of Koduwawa in Chilaw. The distressed families urge the authorities to take speedy action to recover the missing boat.

Fisheries Deputy Minister Neomal Perera said he has already instructed the officials to look into the matter.
