Three killings, gun men flee

Three persons were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in separate
incidents in the East and the South yesterday, police said.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said an EPDP member was shot
dead by unidentified gunmen last morning in Kattankudi.
He said when two EPDP members were distributing their newspapers at
around 11.45pm near the Kattankudi Technical College, two unidentified
men had come in a motorcycle and shot at the men. Arumugam Waradaraja, a
resident of Kalladi died in the shooting incident, SSP Gunasekera said.
Kattankudi police is investigating.
In another incident Rohan Fernando, 35, a drug dealer was shot dead
by gunmen opposite his house at Magazine Road, Borella yesterday around
12.15pm. "The suspects walked into Fernando's house, shot him and fled,"
SSP Gunasekera said.
Meanwhile, owner of Shan Inn Rest was gunned down by unidentified
gangsters yesterday at around 1.05pm in Homagama.
The victim was identified as Atigala Shantha of Homagama.
Police are probing the motive behind the killing. |
