State Timber Corporation wins Haritha Prabodini Maco award

The State Timber Corporation emerged the winner of the "Haritha Prabodini Maco" Award at the third Maco Awards Ceremony - 2008 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo on August 5.

This ceremony was jointly organised by the Mass Communication Media of Sri Lanka and the EURO-Lanka International Corporation. The award was presented to State Timber Corporation Chairman Chandana J. Haputantri by Economic Adviser, European Community Dr. Carsten Tschirpig.

The State Timber Corporation was able to impress the Judges by developing a set of motivated and dedicated personnel at all levels of the Organisation and engaging in sustainable timber harvesting which makes a significant contribution to the national economy and environmental conservation and thereby accomplishing their mission without being a burden to the Government.

The State Timber Corporation contributed a colossal Rs. 1,224 million to the State coffers in 2007.
