Eliyakanda Hill Climb on August 10

The Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) has made all arrangements to hold the Nations Trust Southern Eliyakanda Hill Climb 2008 on August 10. The Event comprises of 8 motor cycle events and 19 motor car/jeep events.

Southern Eliyakanda Hill climb is one of the most challenging & the 'Queen' of the hill climbs in Sri Lanka.

This is a one of the well known national motor sports event, conducted according to international rules & regulations.. Last year over 100 competitors including leading drivers and riders in the country participated.

This year too the organisers expect a large number of competitors which is sure produce a day of top class hill climbing once again here on this Brow's Hill in Matara.

Each competitor is given two chances and the fastest drive or ride of the two shall be considered for the positioning according to the classifications. Electronic timing equipment installed at the start & the finish are used for timings.

The SMSC is planning to award an array of Trophies to the winners of the individuals & those of the whole event as well.

Trophies will be awarded to those competitors placed 1st, 02nd & 3rd in each class of the event & to the competitor recording the fastest time for the day for motor cycles & for cars.

There will be special awards for the 'Fastest Motor Cycle Rider and the 'Fastest Driver'. The winners will receive their awards at Pearl Cliff Hotel, Browns Hill, Matara on the same day.

This year' shill climb is sponsored by the Nations Trust Bank while the co sponsors are Euro Nippon Group of Companies, AMW Suzuki Maruti, Browns Group, Douglas Sons Limited, Harishchandra Mills.

Mobitel has come forward as the event sponsor meanwhile Derana TV is the Electronic Media Sponsor for the event.
