Perahera 'live' to over 150 countries

The Tourism Ministry has granted Rs. 5.5 million to the Sri Dalada Maligawa to arrange a worldwide transmission of the final Randoli Perahera via satellite, covering over 150 destinations.

Tourism Deputy Minister Faizer Mustapha handed over the cheque to Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara yesterday.

The Deputy Minister said over 120 countries viewed a live coverage of last year's Randoli Perahera through a similar arrangement aimed at promoting Sri Lanka as a popular tourist destination.

Mustapha said the Esala Perahera was among the top tourist attractions in Sri Lanka.
