Moves to restore India-Lanka telecom links

The telecommunication link between India and Sri Lanka has remained cut off for the past 10 days and steps were being taken to restore it as quickly as possible in view of the SAARC Summit in Colombo, officials said.

The links had snapped due to problems in the undersea cable. An undersea cable service ship has been rushed in from Singapore to repair the network, they told PTI.

The cable network is routed through Rameswaram, they said.
