Malaysian trade delegation ties with CCI
Chamber of Construction Industry Sri Lanka (CCI) will once again
collaborate with the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) to host an
interactive session for construction industry stakeholders including
construction contractors, architects, designers, property developers and
furniture manufacturers, which will be held on 12th August 2008 at Trans
Asia Hotel.
CEO, Chamber of Construction Industry, Dakshitha Talgodapitiya said
that Malaysian Timber Council has also facilitated the visit of a ten
member trade delegation comprising manufacturers of furniture, mouldings
and flooring, suppliers of plywood, particle boards and sawn timber,
with whom one-to-one business meetings will be arranged by the Chamber
on August 11 and 12.
Director, Malaysian Timber Council Dr. T. M. Wong, will deliver a
lecture on 'Biodeterioration of Wood'.
The lecture will be followed by a reception and dinner which will
take place under the distinguished patronage of Minister of Construction
and Engineering Services Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and His Excellency Rosli
Ismail, High Commissioner of Malaysia, who will be the chief guest and
guest of honour respectively according to Talgodapitiya.
This initiative of the Chamber is designed to augment the supply of
raw materials for the Construction Industry and Timber Processing
Industries, while providing a valuable information service to the timber
trade.
Malaysian Timber Council is a state owned organization established in
the year 1992 to promote the Development of the timber based industry in
Malaysia and marketing of timber products.
With Malaysia being endowed with a profuse variety of timber species,
it has emerged to be a global leader in the supply chain of timber and
timber based products.
MTC and CCI have developed a strategic alliance and similar events
have been hosted since the year 2006. This is another endeavour of the
Construction Chamber to facilitate enhancement of Construction Industry
Capacities and Competitiveness. |
