Clifford Cup rugby quarter-finals shifted to Police Park

The Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union has decided to shift the venue of
the quarter-final matches of the Caltex Inter-Club knock-out tournament
for the Clifford Cup from Longden Place to Police Park.
Except for the Kandy SC-Galle RFC quarter-final which will be worked
off on August 9 at Nittawela the other three quarter-finals between CR
and FC and Air Force on August 8, CH and FC vs Police on August 9 and
Havelocks vs Army on August 10 will be played at Police Park.
The semi-finals will be worked off on August 15 and August 17 at
Longden Place and Nittawela respectively with the final scheduled for
August 24 either at Nittawela or Longden Place. Last year Kandy Sports
Club clinched the Clifford Cup by beating CR and FC 16-5 in the final at
Nittawela while CR and FC bagged the trophy in 2006 with a smashing 37-5
win over Havelocks in the final at Longden Place.

Quarter-finals:
(a) CR and FC vs Air Force on August 8 at Police Park
(b) Kandy SC vs Galle RFC on August 9 at Nittawela
(c) CH and FC vs Police on August 9 at Police Park
(d) Havelocks vs Army on August 10 at Police Park
Semi-finals:
(e) Winners of (a) vs winners of (d) on August 15 at Longden Place
(f) winners of (b) vs winners of (c) on August 17 at Nittawela
Final on August 24 either at Nittawela or Longden Place. |
