Colombo 'A' Division Knock-out Hockey Tourney in August

The Colombo `A' Division Knock-out Hockey Tournament will take place
in mid of August in Colombo conducted by the Colombo Hockey Association.
The venue for this event has not decided yet.
All the teams who took part in the recently concluded Colombo League
Hockey Tournament are expected to take part in the knock-out Tournament.
The League Tournament saw altogether thirteen teams taking part.
The teams will play in two groups, there are seven teams in each
group so far. Group A- CH and FC, CR and FC, BRC, Old Peterites HC, Old
Thomians HC, Matale, Old Royal HC, Old Nalanda HC. Group B- Old
Anandians HC, CH and FC (B), Colts HC, Malay HC, Old Cambrian HC,
University of Moratuwa, University of Colombo.
Meanwhile, in the Colombo Hockey League Tournament CH and FC bagged a
double by winning both `A' and `B' Division titles worked off at CH and
FC and Astro Turf, Reid Avenue in Colombo recently.
In the `A' Division Tournament CH and FC collected 17 points to win
the Andry Shield while winning 5 matches and held 2 draws, while Old
Thomians HC, Matale finished second with 11 points with winning two
matches. BRC won the third place with nine points.
In the `B' Division Tournament CH and FC emerged champions to win the
pioneer cup, while Old Anandians HC were the second. Colts HC finished
third. |
