Vice squad raid distillery at Muthurajawela

A branch of the Walana Central Vice Squad has been opened at the Wellawatta Fashion House (Vilasitha Medura) recently to conduct raids on illegal activities. The new outfit will help to take immediate steps to conduct raids in the Western Province as well as Colombo areas.

On a tipoff, a large scale illicit distillery at Muthurajawela was raided and the following were taken into custody. 47,800 drams of hooch (5,100 bottles), 288,568 Goda grams (60,012 gallons) and distilling equipment. Inspector-General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratne thanked the public for providing information to round up the wealthy pot arrack dealer.

The IGP appealed to the public to help and provide with the necessary information to eradicate illicit distilleries and hard drug dealers from the country.
