Graduate teachers to Eastern schools soon

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha told the media that 1,226
graduates will be appointed as teachers to schools in the Ampara,
Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts in East on condition that they
should serve 10 years in the respective schools to which they are first
posted.
The Minister is expected to handover the appointment letters to these
graduates, of whom 1,097 are Tamil medium and 129 Sinhala medium
teachers.
These graduates had been finally selected for teaching appointments
after an oral interview was conducted among the candidates who were
successful in a competitive examination held by the Examinations
Department consequently to a Gazette Notification issued by Eastern
Provincial Public Service Commission a few months ago.
Graduates who obtained above forty marks in two subjects they offered
at the competitive exam had been selected for the final interview,
Provincial Education Ministry sources observed.
The ceremonies to handover the appointment letters to these graduate
teachers will take place at Trincolamee Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya on July
26 at the Hindu College, Batticaloa and D.S. Senanayake MV, Ampara on
July 28 in the afternoon.
Eastern Provincial Council Chief Minister Sivenesathurai
Chandrakanthan, Provincial Minister and Provincial Councillors are also
expected to participate in these functions. |
