Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development

Former Secretary, Ministry of Mass Media and Information W. B. Ganegala who is now serving as Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Common Amenities has been appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development by President Mahinda Rajapaksa with effect from July 21, 2008.

A senior most public servant with wide experience in the Public Service, Ganegala has had the rare privilege of having held such prestigious positions in the President's Office as Chief of Staff of the President and Additional Secretary to the President, and Senior Assistant Secretary to the President over a period of around seven years from 1997 before he was elevated to the position of Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information in April, 2004.
