Enjoining order extended against Thera and three others

The parties of the case filed against Ven. Dambara Amila Thera with
regard to the Patriotic National Movement agreed to reach a verdict
based on written submissions. Colombo District Judge Sisira Ratnayake
ordered to submit the written submissions on August 20.
The Court also extended the enjoining order that prevented certain
members of Patriotic National Movement Executive Committee including Ven.
Dambara Amila Thera from holding exhibitions or press conferences on
behalf of the Patriotic National Movement.
The plaintiff, Patriotic National Movement President Dr. Gunadasa
Amarasekara filed a plaint before the Colombo District Court.
Plaintiff Amarasekara pleaded the Courts to issue the enjoining order
against defendants Ven. Dambara Amila Thera, Dr. Sayakkara Jayawardene
Soyza, Thasi Hasan and Vini Hettigoda from holding exhibitions and press
conferences until the pending disciplinary inquiry conducted against
them by the PNM was over.
The plaintiff also stated that the majority of the Executive
Committee has suspended the committee membership of the defendants
pending a disciplinary inquiry. |
