Sri Lanka were drawn in group B along with India, Pakistan and England for the 2009 International Cricket Council (ICC) women's World Cup limited overs cricket tournament which will be held from March 7 to 22 in Australia.

Sri Lanka's opening match will be against England on March 7 at Canberra. On the same day India will take on their arch rivals Pakistan at Bowral.

The group A will comprise of the hosts Australia, West Indies, New Zealand and South Africa.

The maches will be worked off at six different venues in New South Wales namely Sydney, Bankstown, Bowral, Canberra, Newcastle and Drummoyne.

The most significant development in this edition is that for the first time since 1973, the tournament comes under the umbrella of the ICC following its merger with the International Women's Cricket Council (IWCC) in 2005.

The top three teams in each group will go forward to the Super Six stage where each side plays the teams to have qualified from the other group.

The top two sides from the Super Six proceed to the final.
