Firearms near flats were brought from ASP's house - CCD

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) probing the firearms found near the Keppetipola Summit Flats told Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Nishantha Hapuarachchi, that the items were allegedly brought from ASP Jayanath Wijesekera's house.

On an application by CCD officials, Court directed the items be sent to the Government Analyst Department and obtain a comprehensive report.

The CCD told Court that they found ASP Sarath Bandara Beddewela's expired passport and several pictures of his family members.

The CCD also told Court that they are investigating to ascertain to whom these firearms had been issued earlier. Court also directed CCD officials to submit a comprehensive report in connection with their investigations along with the Government Analyst's report on September 7.
