The Restoration of the lost democratic rights of the people of the
North through the Provincial Council Election will be the next aim of
the Government, said Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister
Karu Jayasuriya addressing a meeting of Governors at Hotel School
Auditorium recently.
Priority should be given to the restoration of civil administration
in the Province in line with the other provinces, Minister Jayasuriya
said.
The Minister said that the Government was always ready to share
powers with the periphery. Highlighting the importance of discipline in
the respective Provincial Councils Minister Jayasuriya said there will
be no discrimination in the recruitment where priority will be given to
the locals particularly in the provincial educational service.
Addressing the meeting Minister of Home Affairs Chandrasiri
Gadjadheera said the initiatives are in underway to widen the Grama Seva
Divisions of the country.
The Governors pointed out certain restrictions imposed by the Central
Government in the recruitment of personal staff of their preference.
Matters related to filling vacancies of the Sri Lanka Administrative
Service within the Province, appointments of new Grama Niladaris, and
inviting higher officers of the Provincial Service to Colombo for
various meetings to also figured at the meeting. |
