Antonians and Isipathana enter semi-finals

The semi finalists were found, when both St.Anthony's Katugasthota and Isipathana made easy passages with St. Anthony's defeating Ananda by 34 points (3 goals, 3 tries and 1 penalty) to 18 ( 1 goal, 1 try and 2 penalties) and Isipathana beating Wesley also by 34 points ( 2 goals, 4 tries) to nil in their Milo President's Cup quarter final knock out rugger tournament played at the Royal College Sports Complex grounds yesterday.

St.Peter's will meet Mahanama in the first semi final and Isipathana will take on St.Anthony's Katugasthota in the second semi final on July 8 at the Royal College Sports Complex grounds. Ananda although playing with a bit of promise did not live upto expectations as they made number of mistakes which the Antonians capitalised to the maximum.

Scrum half Imad Riyal touched down thrice while second rower Dilan Ranawanagedera, flanker Arshan Uvais and winger Kelum Mannaperuma scored a try each. Imad Riyal made the conversions. For Ananda winger Thusith Fonseka and centre Niresh Fernando scored the tries while Thusith Fonseka and Charith Mapatuna put over the penalty and the conversion.

In the second quarter final between Isipathana and Wesley Isipathana . winger Wisvajith Jayasinghe (1), centre Srinath Sooriyabandara (2), winger Ashan Gallage (1), centre Dinusha Chaturanga (1) and flanker Deshan Subashana scored the tries. Srinath Sooriyabandara added the extra points.
