Defending champs knocked out

Negombo Youth Sports Club, the defending Champions of the Holcim FA
Cup were sent out of the championship by Maligawatte Youth SC beating
them by 3 goals to 2 in a penalty shoot out in a pre quarter final
match. Both teams failed to find the net during the 90 minutes of play
and the penalty shoot was introduced from which the Colombo team took
the advantage to make their way to the quarter finals.
In a another game Police Sports Club outplayed New Youngs Sports Club
two goals to nil after leading 1-0 at the breather. S.M. Rafeek and
B.A.R. Javilal scored for winners.
The Premier League Champs Ratnam Sports Club proved that they are a
superior team looking for a double this season. To enter last eight they
overcame Middle X SC five goals to nil.
At the breather the winners had a comfortable 4 - 0 lead. Sri Lanka's
leading goal scorer in the premier league came up with another brilliant
performance scoring a hattrick of goals in the first session of play.
Raumy Mohideen had two goals under his belt which came in the third
and 47th minutes of play.
Air Force too made their way to the quarters defeating Old Bens SC in
a penalty shoot out. The quota of ninety minutes ended with both teams
gaining a goal each and the penalty shoot was introduced to decide the
winners.
