Chief Inspector among four nabbed for poaching

Four suspects including a Police Chief Inspector attached to the
Wanathawilluwa police who had engaged in poaching in the Knuckles group
forest reserve were caught red handed with their day's kill by Wattegama
police officers.
They were nabbed when police checked the van in which they were
returning after the poaching expedition at Heepitiya, Wattegama
following public information yesterday morning.
Police also seized two firearms, 12 live cartridges, seven spent
cartridge cells, several rambo knives, and torches and five deer
carcasses and a carcass of a wild boar from their possession, said
Wattegama police OIC Inspector Chintaka Bandara. |
