Air Force pounds Tiger training base

Air Force fighter jets carried out eight air raids targeting the LTTE Air Tiger and Special Units Training base in Ampakamam, Mankulam early yesterday morning causing heavy damages to the outfit.

Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said Air Force fighter jets pounded the LTTE Air Tiger and Special Unit Training base around 6.00 a.m. yesterday. “The target was an important place for the LTTE where Tiger cadres and others receive training,” he told the Daily News.

The target was in Ampakamamam, eight km northeast of Mankulam, Wing Commander Nanayakkara said. Meanwhile, Air Force M-24 helicopter gunships launched an air attack at the Sea Tiger Operational Command Centre in Pooneryn, Jaffna on Monday night.
