Imperial to expand in Russia

Imperial Tea Exports , the largest single brand Sri Lankan tea
exporter in Russia is to expand its market up to 75 per cent of its
export volume concentrating their distribution in the region of the
Russian Federation.

In 2007 value added exports amounted to nearly 60 per cent and the
new expansion will consist of more value added products including bio
teas and herbal tea.
Managing Director Jayantha Karunaratne said the production process of
the company is being re-engineered to increase productivity and ensure
quality consistency to comply with international safety regulations.
He said two leading consultant firms are engaged in analysing risks
and upgrading financial and costing systems.
An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system has been installed for
the entire group. “All three systems are geared to improve efficiency,
reduce wastage and serve customers better,” Karunaratne said.
A major television advertising campaign will commence shortly in
Russia to attract new customers. The Imperial Tea stall at the recent
exhibition held in Russia attracted a large number of buyers. Impra is
currently available at Woolworths (Australia) Tesco (China, Hungary)
Costco (Japan) Carrefour (China) Spar (Russia) Wal-Mart (Canada) Ahold
and Billa (Czech Republic) |
