Foreign Minister to visit Dhaka

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama will arrive in Dhaka on June 29 to invite Bangladeshi leaders including chief adviser and the foreign adviser to attend the upcoming 15th SAARC summit.

Minister Bogollagama will meet foreign affairs adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury on June 29, according to the adviser’s daily schedule. The Sri Lankan minister has already invited the Indian prime minister and the foreign minister to attend the summit, according to media reports.

The two-day summit starts on August 2, coming after a meeting of SAARC foreign ministers slated for July 31.

Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed is likely to attend the summit to be attended by heads of state or government under the eight-member South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the members of SAARC, founded in 1985. BDNews24.com
