Karachi show draws US$ 700,000 worth trade inquiries
Sri Lankan export companies who took part at the My Karachi
International Exhibition held in Karachi, Pakistan were successful in
negotiating trade worth US $ 700,000 in the rubber, software
development, coconut products, floor tile sectors.
Six Sri Lankan companies are negotiating with their counterparts in
Pakistan to appoint distributors/agents in Pakistan.
Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the
Sri Lanka Consulate General in Karachi, Pakistan organised Sri Lanka’s
participation at the fifth My Karachi International Exhibition for the
second time.
The products promoted at the Sri Lanka pavilion at My Karachi 2008
included herbal based cosmetics and hair care products, coconut oil,
rubber mats (industrial and domestic use), rubber hot water bottles, jar
sealing rings, bottle caps, rubber slippers, floor tiles, industrial and
consumer adhesives, pre-fabricated and pre-engineered steel buildings,
foam rubber mattresses and cushions, electrical switches and sockets,
PVC pipes and fittings, biomass fuel briquette producing machines,
rubber rollers for printing and packaging industry, rice huller rollers,
engine mounts, oil seals and also computer software development.
The information stall organised by the EDB at the Sri Lanka pavilion
provided information and contact details of Sri Lankan exporters related
to other exportable products of Sri Lanka which were not on display at
the Exhibition to potential buyers. Information related to Free Trade
Agreement between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was also provided. |
