Briefing on Asia Pacific Trade Agreement
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold a briefing
session on "Asia Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA), its benefits to Sri
Lanka and the new developments" tomorrow from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm at the
Chamber Auditorium, 450, D. R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10.
Third round of negotiations on tariff concessions under Asia Pacific
Trade Agreement was held in April 2003 when it was known as the Bangkok
agreement. Countries come under Asia Pacific Trade Agreement are
Bangladesh, China, India, Republic of Korea, People's Democratic
Republic if Lao and Sri Lanka.
The briefing session includes a presentation followed by discussions
on the benefits to Sri Lankan exporters under APTA, its future
expansion, new export and import opportunities arising and problems
faced by exporters, importers under the Asia Pacific Trade Agreement and
the outcome of the Twenty eighth session of the standing committee.
The resource person will be Dr Dayaratne Silva, Deputy Director of
Commerce who is the officer in-charge of Asia Pacific Trade Agreement. |
