Poson bears extra significance due to Mihintale Preservation Fund

This year’s Poson full moon day bears extra significance and becomes
a red letter day in Buddhist history due to the declaration and the
establishment of “Mihintale Preservation Fund” under the instructions
and the auspices of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, to usher the land of
once great historical religious and archaeological importance to its
ancient glory to the endowment of Buddhisms said Anuradhapura Government
Agent H. M. K. Herath.
The Government Agent appreciated the endeavours by 10,000 of Armed
Forces, police the Civil Security corps and the civil security
volunteers spearheaded by Major General Sanath Karunaratne the Joint
Operations Commander North Central and K. P. P. Pathirana the D.I.G. for
the Maintenance of Law and Order and to safeguard the well-being of
nearly five lakhs of devotees and the dignity of the places of worship
in Anuradhapura Mihintale etc. during Poson festive days. Herath thanked
the Government and Local Government officials and agencies, volunteer
organisations for their work and dedication for holding a very
successful and peaceful Poson festival. |
